"Ball de l'àliga" (eagle dance) is a song that is normally performed during La Patum de Berga. La Patum de Berga is an open air celebration that lasts 4 days and has been declared Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

La Patum de Berga coincides with Corpus Christi and includes a whole series of theatrical representations, characters and figures that perfom within Berga every spring. It is a religious commemoration that dates back to the Middle Ages, which has managed to preserve both its religious and profane roots.

The eagle simbolizes the royal power, dignity, peace, justice. Therefore in the past, Ball de l'àliga had a privileged position amongst all the other perfomance that are being held during La Patum.

Periscopi Invertit creates new arrangements for public domain folk melodies from Catalan Countries, and "Ball de l'àliga" is one of them.

In this occasion, Periscopi Invertit created a new arrangement using a music style that would suit the rhythm and meaning of the melody: the eagle, in Catalonia, is a symbol of freedom fight and Reggae is a style that often refers to it.

Persicopi Invertit music project it's about how globalization affects to local music and use all these new music ideas and styles from all around the world to mix it with Catalan folk melodies.
